The bottle was purchased from Japan by my friend and the sample set from Rain in Singapore explaining the difference in the ABV. Today i shall try the sample as to preserve the bottle as long as possible :). This sample is appreciated after trying out the 1992 24 Years, Oloroso Sherry Butt, ABV 52.1% as indicated in my previous post.
Initial Nose: Bright sherry, raspberry, acidic, minty, alcohol is apparent
Nosing after time: The bright sherry opens up and becomes more lemony. After 20 mins the oak cuts through and the sherry and lemon notes has toned down.
Palate: Sherry, Brazilian nuts, light spices, after a while, sherry and dried leaves on the onset
Finish: Nutmeg, spices
An extremely enjoyable dram which I feel has a nice balance between the sherry sweetness and nuttiness that comes on the onset. The finish of nutmeg spice is very pleasant and cuts through the richness of the dram. Personally I feel that the 1992 has much more refinement but the 1995 is still something very delicious and not just one tone sweetness.
