Sample 1/12 of the May tasting set
Initial Nose: Orange and lemonade, salted butter, damp wool, sweet pine, chalk, mint
Nosing after time: Orange boiled sweets, chalk becomes more prominent and really nice, nose is becoming more like the palate with sweet and savoury beef fat drippings, mint becomes slightly medicinal
Palate: Really oily, wow really interesting, multitude of flavours, sweet beef drippings and beef fat, slightly chalky, bitter tea leaves, sweet chocolatey cigar, wonderful umami and sweet flavours mixing together in the tongue.
Finish: buttery, creamy, hint of bbq sweet sauce with lemon juice added, hint of coffee
Wow as the first Longrow I can recall trying this really is an amazing experience with great complexity. Compared to the Springbanks (that I really enjoy) I feel this has much more complexity and interesting notes, not just fruitiness but as a beef lover the savoury sweet beefy notes are really enjoyable.
